AN EXPERIENCE OF THE COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS OF THE POEM “ATTEMPT TO JEALOUSY” BY M. TSVETAEVA

The paper deals with the problem of translating poetry. The study object is the English translations of the poem “Attempt to Jealousy” by M. Tsvetaeva which are compared with the original text. The analysis is based on the criterion of equivalence which determines the compliance between the translated version and the original text. The author uses the interactive approach which considers the different forms of equivalence of the translated version and the original text, such as: denotative, connotative, textual, pragmatics and formal-aesthetic.
