ARCHITECTURAL AND TYPOLOGICAL BASICS OF JAPANESE MEDIEVAL CITIES IN THE CONTEXT OF INFLUENCE OF TRADITIONS OF THE EAST AND THE WEST
In the article the cause-and-effect relationships of formation of the typology of the Japanese city of the medieval period are analyzed. The special attention is given to the concept of ideal capital, postal-transport towns, castle towns as well as to the development of urban culture in the XVI-XIX centuries. The author describes the influence of the cultural and historical development of Japan on formation of spatial structure and stylistic peculiarities of the Japanese city. The general principles of forming the Japanese city structure are considered from the point of view of forming the Japanese traditions of urban planning and the impact of the Western and Eastern ones.
