Soviet town planning and its consequences for Russian cities
For a long time ideological directives had been laid on the basis of project planning and developing soviet towns and cities. Developing urban settlements was closely connected with the «socialist development» and exactly with the process of industrialization to a great extent. The system «production – population – settlements» had been the object of planning theory for many years. Analyzing contradictions of developing soviet towns and cities helps to understand the essence of crucial problems, which the Russian cities have faced today. Reasons of crisis in many settlements are resulted from the process of urbanization of the last years.
