Technical progress has a significant impact on increase of growth rate. It is not always constant for long period of time even within one industrial enterprise or one branch of industry, not to mention the aggregate industrial enterprises or industries in general. The modified production function (MPF) with variable parameters is used as an evaluation tool of economic growth variable due to technical progress. The MPF unlike traditional PF with constant parameters allow to evaluate not constant but variable impact of technical progress on growth both at the micro and the macro levels.

Keywords: economic growth of manufacturing industry of Germany, the former USSR, USA, Japan, production functions, technical progress.
